Welcome to SueAir

SueAir was set up in 2007 to provide modern, Glass Cockpit aircraft for hire to suitably qualified pilots. Feedback from SueAir pilots can be found on the Testimonials page.

SueAir is based at North Weald airfield and Gloucester airfield and currently operates 4 Diamond aircraft: two DA42 TDI Twin Stars and two DA40 New Generations. All aircraft offer great performance, superb visibility and a reliable, Garmin 1000 Glass Cockpit with a fully integrated Garmin GFC 700 digital autopilot. Further details about the specification of the aircraft can be found on the Aircraft page.

The aircraft may be hired for private use or for training for higher certificates, for example: MEP Class Rating; Instrument Rating; Competency Based Instrument Rating; En-Route Instrument Rating; IR Restricted; revalidations; renewals; DA42 conversion courses; DA40NG conversion courses; and, Glass Cockpit conversion courses. More information about the courses SueAir can offer, including Ground School courses (some of which are offered at no cost), can be found on the Courses page.

The concept of SueAir is to offer flying on a flexible basis. Pilots may hire an aircraft for a short local trip, for a day trip or for a longer trip over a number of days. The only requirement is that you should aim to fly an average of around 2 hours per day of hire e.g. Le Touquet for a day, Paris for a weekend and the South of France for a week. This is not a hard and fast rule, however, and there is flexibility for you to fly fewer hours particularly during the winter months and on week days.

There is no joining fee and no annual club membership fee and pilots can choose from 3 options to hire the aircraft: a pay-as-you-fly rate; a block of hours payable in advance; a monthly amount and a reduced hourly rate. The hire cost includes fuel, parking, hangarage and landing fees at North Weald or Gloucester. Rates excluding fuel are available on request. Further information on the hire options can be found on the Hire Rates page. A deposit for each day of a booking is payable to secure the booking and this is fully offset against the cost of actual hours flown for the booking. If the booking is cancelled because of weather or at the instigation of SueAir (e.g. because of a technical fault) the deposit is fully refundable or transferable to a new booking. Further details about the deposit policy can be found on the Booking page.

Prior to hiring an aircraft for the first time you will need to complete a Pilot Data Form, which can be found on the Booking page. Please email the completed form to contact@sueair.co.uk or post it to the address shown at the bottom of the form. You will also need to go on a familiarisation flight with an instructor who will demonstrate to you the key features of the aircraft that may differ to the Diamond aircraft that you have previously flown and who will show you the circuit pattern at North Weald and/or Gloucester. You will then be sent log-in details to enable you to request bookings through the on-line booking system, which can be found on the Booking page. Finally, you will need to keep SueAir informed about changes to your data e.g. medical or ratings renewals. If you haven't flown a DA42 or DA40NG, SueAir can offer DA42 and DA40NG conversion courses.

More information about North Weald airfield and Gloucester airfield, including airfield maps, circuit procedures, operational hours and runway closure dates, can be found on the Location page.
